Make just a few changes in this classic song, and you have a great song for a color-themed storytime.
Sing the first verse of the original song, and put a white lamb on the flannelboard.
The sing the song again, using different colors.
Display the pink lamb, then discuss items that are pink. Finally, have the kids choose the pink item from a display.
For example, Mary had a little lamb, little lamb, little lamb/Mary had a little lamb, it’s fleece was pink as a flower.
I know it doesn’t rhyme, but it still can be fun to sing!
P.S. I know these pictures border on inappropriate (the sheep seem to be a little too friendly in my eyes). I feel quite sheepish, and I will retake and repost when I have time. 🙂
I see what you did there 😛
I’ve noticed that kids don’t care if the song rhymes or not, and if it’s fun it won’t matter, thankfully, since I do it all the time! I like the idea of having the children find the matching colored object, and will definitely be baaaa-rrowing it. (couldn’t help myself!)
Oooh, great one! Sometimes it takes a little kick like this to free us from the tyranny of rhyming 🙂 *Bookmarking*
