Summer Storytime–Night Sky

For an explanation of how summer storytimes work at my library, see here.

We are using the Dream Big–Read theme this summer, so this storytime would seem to be a given.

Books:

How To Catch a Star by Oliver Jeffers

Ten Flashing Fireflies by Philemon Sturges

Kitten’s First Full Moon by Kevin Henkes

Wow! Said the Owl by Tim Hopgood

Songs and Rhymes:

Little Stars

Little stars

Way up in the sky, (hold hands up and wiggle fingers)

Little stars

Up so very high.  (stretch hands up higher and wiggle fingers)

They twinkle brightly

Through the night,  (keep wiggling fingers)

But during the day

They are out of sight!  (pull hands down quickly and hide them behind your back)

Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star from Six Little Ducks

Rocketship Run by Laurie Berkner from Rocketship Run

Craft:

We decorated star shapes with crayons and stickers, and used lengths of yarn to make them into necklaces.
